The University of Alberta International portfolio has been redesigned, focusing on three Centres of Expertise (Global Engagement, International Student and Visitor Services, and Global Learning), this streamlining of services will enable UAI to continue to lead and facilitate strategic international policies and engagement, as well as support colleges' and faculties' international priorities.

On January 17, 2022 the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research (FGSR) took over support for postdoctoral fellows and academic visitors. This move creates a centralized access point for support services including awards, funding, HR, and professional development, benefitting not only postdocs and academic visitors, but also faculties and departments. FGSR is a single contact point, support base, and advocate for postdocs and academic visitors, simplifying navigation, increasing support accessibility, and providing advocacy for this specialized community at the University of Alberta.

August 16 marked the official launch of the Student Service Centre.

The Student Service Centre is working towards a virtual soft launch on July 1 followed by a physical launch on August 15. Visioning activities are currently being planned for key stakeholders with the first of three visioning workshops scheduled for June 8.

The student services workstream is prepared to soft launch the Student Service Centre (SSC) in July, having recently hired a director for the SSC.
