2018 Women and Graduate Student of the Year

On Tuesday, October 16th, the Academic Women's Association will host its annual Fall Reception and Awards Ceremony. This year, Women's and Gender Studies Professor Dr Susanne Luhmann is part of a collaborative team that has been named one of two Academic Women of the Year. Susanne's work with with Dr Nat Hurley, Dr Sara Dorow, and Dr Lois Harder is being recognized by the AWA for their work in establishing RiG, a multicampus collaboration that brings together the expertise of researchers across campus.

WGS also extends warm congratulations to Dr Janice Williamson, whose career long contributions to the advancement of women and equity-seeking minority groups is also being recognized by the AWA. Janice is a long time friend and supporter of Women's and Gender Studies at the U of Alberta, and we congratulate her not only on this Academic Woman of the Year Award, but also on her retirement from the department of English and Film Studies here at the U of A.
