Business Doctoral Association

Business Doctoral Association wordmark

The Business Doctoral Association (BDA) encompasses the PhD students and candidates in the Alberta School of Business. We aim to improve the overall quality and value of the Business PhD experience. We provide a united voice for Business Doctoral students stemming from our Executive council, and aim to represent the needs of students in the PhD program at the Alberta School of Business. We also facilitate information-sharing about many facets of PhD student life on campus and in Edmonton and organize social events for students within the program.

Our Mission

The BDA aims to organize and engage in events and activities, and to allocate BDA funds responsibly towards initiatives that:

  • Promote involvement and social interaction within the Business PhD student body;
  • Foster strong relationships between PhD students and faculty, MBA students, Undergraduate students, alumni, industry, and the broader community;
  • Encourage and celebrate our diverse student population;
  • Facilitate the delivery of high quality professional, academic, and supportive programs and services;
  • Promote and support the welfare of PhD students; and
  • Facilitate positive relationships within the PhD student group and with the University, alumni, industry, and academia.

Membership

Membership in the BDA is open to students, faculty, and staff at the University of Alberta, subject to membership requirements outlined in the University of Alberta's student group policies. All full-time PhD students in the Alberta School of Business are members; visiting students and faculty members may join by contacting us.
