Workshops and Learning Opportunities

The University of Alberta and Students’ Union offer a number of opportunities for faculty, staff, and students to learn how to prevent and respond to acts of sexual violence.  

University of Alberta Sexual Assault Centre Workshops

The U of A Sexual Assault Centre offers a number of training sessions that are designed to help members of the U of A community understand how to support survivors, recognize acts of sexual violence, and incorporate prevention efforts into their time on and beyond campus.

Human Resource Services Information and Training

Human Resource Services offers information about sexual violence in the workplace, as well as education and awareness on workplace sexual violence training for faculty and staff in a variety of modalities. Employees can find up to date session information, including session descriptions and timing on the online Learn Centre

Office of Safe Disclosure & Human Rights Workshops

The Office of Safe Disclosure & Human Rights offers a number of standard workshops, as well as customized presentations, for the university’s faculty, staff, and students. These workshops largely focus on inclusion, duty to accommodate, protected grounds, but can also address topics of discrimination and harassment.

Additional Learning Opportunities and Resources

Sexual violence is a concern within post-secondary communities, but it is not unique to them. As a result, there are a number of organizations that extend beyond our campuses who offer training and resources for those Individuals looking to learn more about preventing and understanding matters of sexual violence.

Courage to Act

This cross-Canada group provides information and webinars that focus on addressing and preventing gender-based violence in Canada’s post-secondary institutions.

Working to provide leadership, coordination and collaboration of sexual assault services in Alberta, this group supports research and initiatives that help Albertans better understand sexual violence and efforts to prevent it within the broader community.

An Edmonton-based not-for-profit charitable organization, the Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton supports children, youth, and adults who have experienced sexual abuse or assault, and educates the public about sexual violence.
