Organic Reactions Lecture and Symposium 2021

17 May 2021

The Organic Reactions Lecture and Symposium took place virtually in the Department of Chemistry on May 10. In the morning, Prof. Véronique Gouverneur (Oxford University) presented the 2021 Organic Reactions Lecture describing her laboratory's latest groundbreaking work on "Late Stage Fluorination with Metal Alkali Fluoride". Following this excellent seminar, the afternoon featured a Symposium with a number of short presentations by senior organic chemistry graduate students. The impressive quality of these presentations made it difficult to select prize winners; congratulations to Mikel Allas (First Prize), Hwee Ting Ang (Second Prize), Vitor Cunha and Christopher Cooze (Third Prize). The Department of Chemistry is grateful to the Board of Organic Reactions for their generous sponsorship of this event. Organic Reactions is a unique series of 105 published volumes with comprehensive chapters describing over 300 different chemical reactions with tabular examples. The University of Alberta Library subscribes to the online version of Organic Reactions.
