Our award winning teachers and researchers will help you discover, think and see in new ways, instead of reciting facts. Students have access to internationally renowned professors and can take courses spanning a broad range of topics, cultures, histories and perspectives. Among others, you can study Canadian, Indigenous, international, historical, Shakespearean, and children's literature. Our courses include popular culture, creative writing, film studies and other media including television, web media and social media. Students at all levels of study are eligible for a large number of awards and prizes, many of substantial cash value, distributed annually.
Our department is consistently recognized as among the world's very best for studies in English language and literature, based on academic reputation and research impact. Thousands of students have taken our courses and programs in English, Film Studies, and Creative Writing.
