The experiences you have, the interests you pursue and the decisions you make — during and after your time at university — will impact your career, often in ways you can’t predict. But it’s not all up to fate!

Hear from Tyree McCrackin from the U of A Career Centre to learn how to take a “planned happenstance” approach to managing your career that involves taking action and trying new things, even if you’re not sure of the outcome. Gain an understanding of liminality, learn to embrace your curiosities and interests, and positively shift how you react to change and unexpected twists on your career journey.

SPEAKER(S)

Tyree McCrackin works directly with undergrads, graduate students, post-doctoral fellows and alumni at the University of Alberta's Career Centre. His first role was with the University of Alberta's Graduate Student Internship Career Advisor responsible for supporting GSIP applicants and interns. He then worked as a career advisor, helping current graduate students, post-docs and alumni with work search documents, interview preparation and career management strategies. McCrackin is currently the team lead for the Transition to Careers program. He has a BA and BEd, and is also in the midst of writing a Master's thesis.
