Adapted Physical Activity Symposium

Every two years, The Steadward Centre hosts a three day multidisciplinary symposium with the goal of enhancing the accessibility of physical activity and sports across the province.

One of our primary initiatives for our Athlete Development program is to become a hub for high performance athlete and coach development in Parasport. Our training programs and events are designed to develop, mentor and support Para-athletes and coaches, with a focus on developing the next generation of Para-athletes. Click here to learn more.

The Community Exercise Transition program works to support increased independence, foster self-determination and promote inclusion for people experiencing disability through physical activity, fitness and sport. We provide physical activity and fitness opportunities for children and youth from 4 to 19 years of age who are experiencing physical, sensory or developmental impairments. With instruction from Adapted Physical Activity Consultant, Free2BMe programs are designed to support participants in developing skills and knowledge towards health and wellness while asserting autonomy and independence in a fun and social environment. The Steadward Centre for Personal & Physical Achievement actively supports inclusion and independence for children, youth and adults living with impairments through our programming, knowledge-sharing, research, education, and collaboration with local, national and international organizations.
