  • Superior Academic Achievement
  • Nominee is registered in a graduate degree program in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering or Petroleum Engineering
  • Nominees registered in a master's program are eligible to hold awards during the first two years of their program. Nominees registered in a doctoral program are eligible to hold awards during years one through five of their program
  • Nominee is pursuing research related to oil and gas exploration, production, refining and distribution
  • Awarded on the basis of superior academic achievement (equivalent to a GPA of 3.5 or higher on the U of A grading scale, research potential, published scholarly work)
  • Open to Canadian citizens.
  • Open to permanent residents.
  • Open to foreign nationals holding Canadian study permits.
  • Open to applicants in doctoral programs.
  • Open to applicants in masters programs.
  • Open to applicants in course-based study programs.
  • Open to applicants in thesis-based study programs.

By nomination only. Students should contact their department for details on their application process. Nominations are submitted to GPS by the Department (or Faculty) and will be part of a competitive adjudication. The Graduate Scholarship Committee makes the final decision.
