Eligibility

  • Department of Agricultural, Food and Nutritional Science, Department of Renewable Resources, or Department of Resource Economics & Environmental Sociology
  • Nominee must be in the second year of a PhD program
  • Nominee's research must pertain to sustainable agriculture, which is defined as a balance between social, environmental and economic priorities- see Area of Study #2 for related projects
  • Projects may include environmental quality and resources management, land management, introduction of new technologies, economic viability and rural community sustainability
  • Selected on the basis of high academic standing
  • The Faculty of Agricultural, Life and Environmental Sciences will submit one nomination from the Departments of AFNS, Renewable Resources, and REES to GPS
  • Open to Canadian citizens.
  • Open to permanent residents.
  • Open to foreign nationals holding Canadian study permits.
  • Open to applicants in doctoral programs.
  • Open to applicants in thesis-based study programs.


How to apply

By nomination only. Students should contact their department for details on their application process. Nominations are submitted to GPS by the Department (or Faculty). The Graduate Scholarship Committee makes the final decision.
