Funders: Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR)

Grant Amount: $300,000

Description: The focus of this research study is to determine whether an organization -wide intervention to promote knowledge translation would result in a reduction in absenteeism.

The study is currently in Phase 1 of a three phase study with the following overarching objectives:

1. To build a research base

2. To test indicators of nursing work life

3. To integrate knowledge translation into training and continuing education

The purpose of phase 1: To create a nursing work life geography of the target organization. This is being achieved through five waves of data collection using the following scales:

  • Conditions of Work Effectiveness Questionnaire (Kanter)

  • Nursing Work Index (Laschinger)

  • Global Job Satisfaction ( Laschinger)

  • Plus a demographic component.
