A Systematic Review of Reviews on Instruments Measuring Quality of Life for Older Adults with Dementia

The purpose of this project is to conduct a systematic review of reviews on instruments measuring Quality of Life (QOL) among older adults with dementia in order to find a meaningful and stable outcome measures for knowledge translation intervention studies.

Specific Objectives:

  1. Identify reviews that report QOL instruments and their use among older adults with dementia.

  2. Identify index papers of the identified QOL instruments from the reviews.

    • Examine the extent to which conceptual frameworks (quality of life, measurement) and theories are used to guide the development of these QOL instruments.

    • Examine population/settings in which these QOL instruments have been developed (index papers) and used (reviews).

    • Describe psychometric properties (reviews and index papers) and performance of instruments.

  3. Identify quality of life instruments other in than in Systematic Reviews (2000-2009).
