Upcoming IT-Related Changes

Virtual Computer Services (VCS) will begin transitioning to Windows 11 desktops. This process will take place over approximately 5 months, with groups of people being transitioned each week through those 5 months. For any person being moved to Windows 11, they will be sent an email with directions on how to migrate their personal settings, and how to configure settings that do not get migrated.

Analysts will be making changes to the networking between campus and the public internet for the purpose of removing hardware that is reaching it's end of life. Work will be spread out over several days affecting only a single connection at a time. There are connections with 3 providers and the availability of 2 of the 3 connections will be maintained while work is being completed. No service outage is expected and no user action required.

Users located on Donadeo Innovation Centre for Engineering (Floors 10 & 11) may experience a temporary loss of internet connectivity during a scheduled maintenance window. IST will be performing a switch refresh in this building. No action is required from users, network connections will resume automatically once the work is complete.

During the scheduled change window, users in certain areas of Timms Building will experience a temporary loss of hardwired internet access, UWS, and VoIP phone services. IST will be upgrading the building's networking infrastructure. No follow-up actions are required from users, and all connections will be restored automatically once the work is completed.

Wired, wireless networks and phone services at the Augustana campus will be unavailable for up to 4 hours. The Aggregation switch and internet router will be replaced with our newest standard. No follow up actions are required.

Networking in the GSB and ECHA data centers is being reconfigured as certain devices are being decommissioned. This change will not cause a network outage as all connections are redundant and being rerouted to other existing hardware. No user action is required.

Freshservice, the enterprise service management tool, will undergo routine monthly updates. Users may notice changes to catalog item forms and notifications. No service outage and no action required.

Users located on Donadeo Innovation Centre for Engineering (Floors 8, 8A &a 9) may experience a temporary loss of internet connectivity during a scheduled maintenance window.IST will be performing a switch refresh in this building.No action is required from users, network connections will resume automatically once the work is complete.

Network infrastructure is undergoing maintenance in the Zeidler Center. Printers will be migrated to a new printer vlan 4028 AHS users in access may be affected during this time. Network connectivity should be restored with no action for most users, but after the change but if you are unable to reconnect, please contact the Staff Service Centre for assistance. .

Users located in Central Academic Building (CAB) may be unable to access the internet for the duration of the change. IST will be refreshing the switches located in this building. No follow up actions are required and connections will resume automatically.

During the scheduled change window, users in certain areas of Van Vliet East will experience a temporary loss of hardwired internet access, UWS, and VoIP phone services. IST will be upgrading the building's networking infrastructure. No follow-up actions are required from users, and all connections will be restored automatically once the work is completed.

The authentication method for the wireless DevNet network is being updated for improved performance and security. Endpoints should stay connected after the change and after reauthentication. There will be a brief period when new authentications are unavailable during the change window.

No service outage expected, minor service degradation possible. The network's load balancer software is being upgraded. The following services rely on the load balancers and could see degraded performance during the outage window.

During the scheduled change window, users in certain areas of LAW Building will experience a temporary loss of hardwired internet access, UWS, and VoIP phone services. IST will be upgrading the building's networking infrastructure. No follow-up actions are required from users, and all connections will be restored automatically once the work is completed.

Users located on Donadeo Innovation Centre for Engineering (Floors 6 & 7) may experience a temporary loss of internet connectivity during a scheduled maintenance window. IST will be performing a switch refresh in this building. No action is required from users, network connections will resume automatically once the work is complete.

The switches provide connectivity between all of the ESXi hosts and storage devices that serve the Production Virtual Machine (VM) environment. The fibre channel infrastructure is fully redundant and there is no expected outage, no services will be impacted.

The University's IPAM (IP address management) system will be upgraded. IT Administrators will not have access to system as it will be unavailable for 30 minutes during the change window. Service will resume automatically after the change. No follow up actions are required.

Software that manages network and data center devices is being replaced as the existing system is going end of life. This work will not cause outages to any IT services but no other changes to the data center networks can be made at this time. No end user action is required.
