Joachim Segger – Solo Piano

October 1, 2022
7:30 PM | Convocation Hall

Joachim Segger, U of A piano sabbatical replacement for Jacques Despres, will be playing a solo piano recital in Convocation Hall on Saturday, October 1 at 7:30.  His program includes a premiere written for him by Canadian composer and Edmonton resident Jacobus Kloppers.  Kloppers and Segger were colleagues at The King’s University for 25 years and this work “Rêverie e Êveil’ was written as a tribute to Joachim.  Also on the program is “Fantasy Pieces” composed by a former chair of the music department, Alfred Fisher, who passed away in 2016.  This work was premiered by Joachim in 1982 in Convocation hall and he is excited to play this magnificent work again.  The balance of the program is a collection of old favorites including the E minor partita by Bach, Mozart Sonata in C major, K. 330 and the iconic G minor Ballade by Frédéric Chopin.  Tickets for the performance are $20 for adults and $10 for students.

This concert is a part of the Department of Music's 2022-2023 Faculty & Friends Series.
