Sangkor (pronounced sahng-koor) draws its name from the Norwegian "song choir". This treble ensemble is non-auditioned and open to students studying in all disciplines, as well as to members of the community.

Through the exploration of music from a variety of times and places, the choir endeavours to develop a broader sense of cultural awareness and cultivates in its members a deeper appreciation for the richness of the choral art. In addition, strong emphasis is placed on the development of the vocal instrument and gaining an understanding of foundational musical concepts.

The choir rehearses for 120 minutes once weekly, and typically performs in two Augustana concerts and one choral festival annually.

All women are welcome to sing in this choir, regardless of their musical background. New members are accepted in September and January. For more information about this ensemble, contact the the Department of Fine Arts & Humanities
