BAA 2018 Golf Tournament

BAA CPA Cup Golf Tournament

Held annually, the BAA CPA Cup Golf Tournament is the primary fundraiser for the Business Alumni Association (BAA). Open to all Alberta School of Business alumni and their guests, this event typically takes place at an Edmonton golf course in the springtime.

Proceeds from the tournament support a number of student clubs, case competitions, and conferences, in addition to a variety of networking and professional development opportunities for Business alumni.

Business in the Bears’ Den

Every year, the BAA hosts our “Business in the Bears Den” event. This family friendly event brings together alumni and future alumni of all generations. Attendees can connect while watching the University of Alberta Golden Bears hockey team take on their rivals, enjoying pizza and refreshments, and vying for door prizes.

This BAA event not only connects our alumni but also supports University of Alberta Athletics.


Dish Crawl

The BAA’s Dish Crawl connects alumni over a 3-course meal. Together, we visit three different local restaurants in Edmonton, all within walking distance. Each attendee will be treated to an appetizer, a main course, and a dessert, with each course being served at a different restaurant.

Signature Event

Every year during Alumni Weekend, the BAA hosts a signature event within the Faculty of Business to connect our alumni community. The event differs annually. Past events have included Taste of Business and our Innovation Challenge. 

Taste of Business
The BAA hosts a pop-up market celebrating the entrepreneurial success of our business grads! Reconnect with fellow alumni while sampling food, entertainment, kids' activities and local shops owned and operated by our business alumni. 
Innovation Challenge
The competition consists of teams presenting their seed-stage social enterprise ideas to an adjudication panel of business and community leaders, in the hopes of winning a cash prize from the Business Alumni Association. Mentorship from the judges will also be provided for a year to help the winning recipient or recipients develop their idea.

Initiatives

Alumni Mentorship Program

After getting their feet wet in the workforce, new alumni are now ready to consider additional focus in their careers. The BAA has established an Alumni Mentorship Program to help connect recent grads with more seasoned alumni, to benefit from their advice and experience.

The Business Alumni Association has partnered with the Alberta School of Business to create the "Ask an Alum Anything" program, which provides students and recent graduates with opportunities to network with business alumni over suggested 30-minute virtual meetups.
