Shell Enhanced Learning Fund Selection Committee (SELF)

Opportunity to Serve: One (1) Engineering, Science, or Business Graduate Student

The GSA Nominating Committee invites nominations from graduate students in the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Science, or the Alberta School of Business to fill the vacancy for one graduate student on the Shell Enhanced Learning Fund (SELF) Selection Committee. SELF provides funding for U of A students to participate in enhanced educational experiences that have a focus on sustainable energy, the environment, and the economy. The term of service is one year.

Nominations received will be circulated as submitted via email to the GSA NoC.



Mandate
The SELF Selection Committee will make recommendations for the granting of applications and distribution of funds. These funds will support activities for students, including club activities and field trips, with a focus on Geoscience, Engineering and Business to align with Shell's Graduate Recruitment priorities (SELF Terms of Reference).

Membership
The committee is composed of two faculty members, one undergraduate student representative, and one graduate student representative.

Meetings
The committee will convene in total two times to adjudicate applications: following the application deadline on October 15, 2019, and following the application deadline on April 15, 2020.

Should insufficient applications be received by the above deadline, the GSA NoC will commence a directed search process to fill remaining vacancies.

If you are not selected for service, we will notify you and we will ask for permission to keep your name and resume/bio on file for other possible committee openings.
