Industry Partnerships

The University of Alberta actively encourages, and engages in collaborations with industry. Companies work with highly motivated researchers on projects of mutual interest, accessing world-leading expertise and state of the art technical infrastructure. University-industry collaborations benefit companies by:

  • Accessing government tax credits and matching funding programs to offset research costs;
  • Accelerating R&D programs through relevant and technology-leading university research programs and facilities,
  • Attracting students and post-doctoral research fellows to industry through company-researcher collaborations.

NSERC, CIHR and provincial funding is available to companies to support the identification and development of industry-university collaborations: from initial meetings through to long-term research programs. These funding programs make university collaborations a cost-effective and efficient way of establishing R&D projects and programs.
