UAlberta International works with partners HFLOC and GCCIR to host Humboldt expert

UAlberta International was proud to work with our partners, the German-Canadian Center for Innovation and Research, and the Humboldt Foundation Liaison Office of Canada, to host Dr. Sandra Rebok, an internationally-regarded expert on Alexander von Humboldt, as part of the Humboldt 250 celebratory year.

Jeremy Cherlet, UAlberta International - 10 October 2019

The event included a film screening on the life of Alexander von Humboldt, followed by a lunch; a lecture from Dr. Rebok with a question and answer session concluded the day.

Taking place at the University of Alberta Telus Centre, the event was attended by UAlberta students, staff, and faculty, as well as members of the greater campus community. The lecture evaluated Humboldt and his achievements, and explored how his key achievements can be defined, in which ways he differed from other explorers, and what we can still learn from Humboldt in facing the challenges of today.
