Overview
For over twenty-five years, the Office of International Programs at the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara has served students from around the world in meeting their goals of pursuing academic development and improving their cultural understanding of Mexico.
Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara's International Summer School 2019 program courses will focus on the area of the Sciences and will be held on the main campus in Zapopan, Jalisco. It will give you the opportunity to delve into an array of intensive courses in the fields of engineering and design, all while immersing yourself in Mexican culture and having the opportunity to meet new people and explore new places.
You will learn directly from professionals who oversee a variety of innovative projects, therefore providing you with a glimpse into some of the many challenges you may face in the field along with ideas on how to overcome them. Additionally, field trips and cultural activities will take place every week, giving you time to experience local dynamics and to reflect on the processes that have led faculty members to develop their strategies.
The international summer school includes
- 3 weeks of intensive learning in Guadalajara
- 60 hours of science course
- 6 Mexican credits
- 15 hours of Spanish
- 3 field trips to practice the knowledge acquired during the courses
- Total cultural immersion in Mexico
- Direct contact with national and international students and professors

Program Information
Language of Instruction: English, Spanish
Through the Faculties of Mechatronic Engineering and Biomedical Electronic Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Chemistry, Architecture, Interior Design and Landscape, and Civil Engineering, you will be able to learn about:

• Geotechnics
Fees & Costs
Education Abroad Application Fee: $250 CAD
Participation fee: The total cost is $ 1,020 USD ($1,340 CAD) which includes the courses, homestay including a single room and a plan of 18 meals per week, and the program registration
PROGRAM TOTAL: Approx. $1,590 CAD
Fees are subject to change without notice. Students are responsible for making their own travel arrangements and for any additional costs including visa fees, medical coverage, books and supplies, food, entertainment and incidental expenses.
Housing
Accommodation is with local families, providing UAlberta students the best opportunity to experience Mexico and practice their Spanish outside of the classroom. Home-stays will include meals. The university has no student dormitories.
