Career Cafes

Career Cafes are a casual networking event which will connect students to potential future employers and provide students with an opportunity to chat with professionals in their field of interest. In keeping with the cafe theme, each organization will host a table and students will drop-in during the event to have informal conversations with the organizations. 

Topics to discuss include recruitment, pathways to success, the organization’s goals and more. The purpose of this event is to enable students to expand their network in a casual setting and allow organizations to promote themselves while inspiring students. 

There will be 10 Career Cafes (5 in the Fall term, 5 in the Winter term) which will take place on Wednesdays from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm in our beautiful Carruthers Student Commons (main floor Business Building).

FALL TERM 2026

  • Accounting: September 16, 2026
  • Finance & Consulting: October 7, 2026
  • Energy & Utilities: October 21, 2026 (Tentative)
  • Strategy & Management: November 4, 2026 (Tentative)
  • Not-For-Profit & Public Sector: November 18, 2026 (Tentative)

WINTER TERM 2027

  • Finance: January 20, 2027
  • Accounting: January 27, 2027
  • Marketing, Retail & Human Resources: February 10, 2027 (Tentative)
  • BTM, Tech, AI & Business Analytics: February 24, 2027 (Tentative)
  • Real Estate & Construction: March 10, 2027 (Tentative)

Career Cafe FAQs

Yes! Career Cafes are open to all students, including undergraduate and MBA students. We welcome participants from other faculties to attend as well.

Here are a few questions to ask employers and industry professionals:

- What skills and experiences does your organization look for in applicants?
- How does [company] recruit current students and new grads?
- Are there formal or informal training opportunities?
- What advice would you give me if I wanted to be successful in your line of work?
- How did your education prepare you for this industry?
- How did your career path change over time?
- What was the biggest obstacle you faced when entering this industry?
- What do you enjoy the most about what you do?
- Am I able to connect with you on LinkedIn?

No registration is necessary. The event is a walk-in event, so feel free to arrive any time during the Career Cafe hours.

Each Career Cafe highlights a specific industry, with different companies participating in each one. Information about the participating companies may be shared in advance on our social media channels, posters, and other promotional materials.

Career Cafes are casual networking events. While there's no strict dress code, we recommend dressing comfortably yet professionally, as you'll have the opportunity to engage with industry professionals.
