Postdoctoral Fellows

The Department of Medicine has approximately 30 postdoctoral fellows. Each postdoctoral fellow must meet the following requirements:

Research Outputs: Demonstrate research outputs such as abstracts, presentations, manuscripts (published or submitted for publication)

Funding Application(s): Application for peer-reviewed funding (salary support, scholarships, grants). Success in obtaining of funding is nice, but not required, it is learning the application process which is the most important.

Knowledge Transmission: Scholars must be able to impart their knowledge to others. This may take the form of mentoring a junior colleague, teaching of laboratory or clinical research skills to a colleague/student(s), formal undergraduate or graduate course-based teaching, or speaking to the public.

Health and Wellness Resources

The University of Alberta provides many health and wellness services for Postdoctoral Fellows.

Postdoctoral Annual Report

An annual report must be completed by the supervisor and student must be submitted by April 1 of each year.

A final report (completed by the supervisor) outlining how the trainee has met all of the fellowship requirements is required before a fellowship certificate will be issued by the Department.
