Animal Use Requiring ACUC Review

The University of Alberta is committed to ensuring the ethical treatment of animals in all research, teaching, and testing activities involving non-human vertebrates or invertebrates of Class Cephalopoda or higher. This responsibility extends to both on-campus and off-campus activities conducted by university staff and students.

Collaborative research and partnerships with other institutions and countries also undergo a thorough review process by the University's Animal Care and Use Committees (ACUC).This document outlines some potential scenarios that can arise in collaborative research (UAPWC 2016), and how the ACUC will handle the review and approval.
