Leading Laterally

Leading Laterally is about leading without formal authority. This program helps employees to effectively move in and out of informal leadership roles, to mobilize colleagues toward a common goal and to influence others while maintaining collegial relationships. All employees at the University of Alberta have opportunities to lead in this way.


Leading Laterally is designed for all employees. If the training is oversubscribed, preference will be given to applicants who do not qualify for our other leadership programs.


This program is currently under development. We anticipate a pilot in the 2023-2024 academic year.
