Who: Students from all faculties and programs at Canadian post-secondary institutions and recent graduates (within 1 year)

What: A 6-day hackathon event to learn how to tackle complex issues of food insecurity

How: Register your group of 5 or be matched to a group

Prizes: A $500 CAD prize will be given to the winning team to either help seed their idea or to be donated to a food security charitable organization of their choice

Elective Hours: 8 hours

The Ethical Development Hackathon (EDH) is an interdisciplinary pitch competition that provides a supervised exercise for students to learn how to approach complex issues in Low and Middle Income Countries (LMICs) with economic viability, cultural sensitivity, and sustainability. The theme for this year is Turning the Tables on Global Health and Development: Canadian Food Insecurity. Students will ideate in groups to find ways that successes in food security in LMICs can be applied to solve problems of food insecurity in Canada.
