Medical students collect toys to brighten the season for young Stollery patients

Attention holiday shoppers! The Medical Students' Association Peds Club is collecting toys to brighten the season for young patients at the Stollery Children's Hospital.

Second-year medicine students and club leaders, Aleksa Leszczynski, Brieanne Rogers and Nicole Veltri, decided to create a central drop-off site this year, to make it easier for busy students to participate.

"We wanted to do something to give back to the pediatric community, especially around the Christmas season," said Rogers.

They're in need of new, unwrapped toys for girls and boys of all ages. "We really need a variety. Sometimes the older kids get missed, probably ages 12 to 16," offered Rogers. As incentive, participants will have their names added to a gift card draw for every toy they donate.

All toys will be taken to Golden Arrow Transport, which is collecting the toys as part of a bigger initiative.

The Peds Club will also be making holiday cards for pediatric patients to give to their families.

Donations are being accepted until Thursday, December 12
Drop-off site: Allard Family Lecture Theatre, 1-080 Katz Centre
Note: Plush and stuffed toys will not be accepted.
