What advice would you give to new students?
My advice for new students is to get involved. The university experience at the U of A is enhanced when you go beyond the classroom. There are so many opportunities on campus and you are bound to find something to tickle your interest!

How did you engage with student life on campus?
Similar to main campus, medical students have many clubs and interest groups ranging from advocacy, medical specialty interest groups, intramurals, bands and student initiatives. If there isn't anything that appeals to you, you can always start your own club too!

What was your favourite class during your program?
In medicine, our classes are broken into systems: Cardiology, Pulmonary, Neurology, etc. Then in our senior years, our "classes" are on the wards. A memorable rotation for me was Obstetrics when I delivered my first baby.

Who was your mentor or favourite professor?
It's hard to name just one. Within our program you meet many wonderful preceptors whether it is in the classroom or on the wards. Whether it is formally or informally, many are your mentors and easily become your favourite.

What's next for you?
I'll be staying in Edmonton for residency in Pediatrics. We start July 1st!
