Taylor's Bio

Taylor is a University of Alberta alumni, who is thrilled to be welcomed to the Wâpanachakos program as the new Community Engagement & Recruitment Coordinator.

Taylor has always held a deep love of learning, and a strong belief that with the right education you can achieve anything.

This belief led her to work for the Government of Alberta's Learning Clicks program while in University. In this role she became an educational ambassador, presenting Post-Secondary options and opportunities to Jr. High and High School students across Alberta. Taylor acted primarily as an Indigenous ambassador for Learning Clicks working in many First Nations and Métis communities. Taylor combined her passion for education with her love for her culture to design presentations and activities specifically for Indigenous students.

After graduating, Taylor became a teacher in her family's First Nation for the Mikisew Cree High School in Fort Chipewyan, Alberta. There she had the chance to work with Elders and community members to create a positive learning environment for students. While living in the community, she saw the need for not only more representation for Indigenous people within a wider range of careers, but also the support needed for students thinking of continuing into university.

Taylor is excited to help others explore the educational and career possibilities that the Wâpanachakos program offers
