Immigration Webinars

Our Zoom webinars offer an overview of the important immigration matters that pertain to international students, including compliance with Study Permit conditions (i.e. maintaining student status), working in Canada, visa process, inviting family members and understanding Permanent Residence pathways. It is also an opportunity for students to ask questions about the topic being presented.

January 24: Immigration Rules International Students Must Know

Session description: 
During this session, International Student Specialists will discuss the requirements international students are required to comply with during their studies in Canada, Study Permit work authorization and the importance of valid documents (Passport, Study Permit, TRV or eTA) for the duration of your stay in Canada.

February 14: Post Graduation Work Permit (PGWP)

Session Description:
During this session, an International Student Specialist will provide information about the PGWP program (i.e. the eligibility requirements for PGWP program, the application process, work authorization after program completion and after PGWP application is submitted to IRCC.) Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions about the topic presented in the session.

March 20: Traveling Outside Canada

Session Description:
During this session, an International Student Specialist will review the document requirements for entry back to Canada. Students considering travelling outside Canada during the Spring and Summer are advised to attend this session.

May 8: Working in Canada

Session Description:
During this session, an International Student Specialist will review the student's work authorization with regards to on-campus and off-campus work during Spring and Summer after completing their program of study and while waiting for Post Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) application to be processed.

May 22: Pathways to PR Webinar Series (Express Entry and AAIP)

During this session, an International Student Specialist will provide information on the two most common pathways for Permanent Residency (Express Entry and AAIP) available to international students.

June 19: Taking a Leave From Studies and Immigration Implications

Session Description:
During this session, an International Student Specialist will review the information that international students who are considering taking a leave from studies should review prior to taking a leave from studies. Information will also be shared about the next steps students may need to take, documents that should be prepared and the immigration implications of taking a leave from studies.
