.med Suite System Training

Target Audience: Competence Committees, Academic Advisors

Facilitated by: Christopher Chan | Learning Technology Analyst, PGME

This session is a .med Suite assessment platform training session. By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the purpose of and differentiate between CBME.med and DASH.med;
  • Successfully login and start an EPA;
  • Understand how to review a resident's portfolio; and
  • Understand the "O-score" and differentiate between the "I didn't need to be there just in case" and the "I didn't need to be there (in theory)" scores.

Challenging Coaching Situations

Target Audience: Program Directors, Academic Advisors, Preceptors

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Differentiate coaching/formative feedback (assessment for learning) vs judging/summative feedback (assessment of learning);
  • Identify and practice strategies to give effective coaching feedback and avoid common pitfalls; and
  • Implement strategies that will help supervisors navigate common challenging feedback situations.

The Competence Committee - Making it Work

Target Audience: Competence Committees

Facilitated by: Alicia Strand, MD, FRCPC | Assistant Director CBME, PGME

This session is a repeat session from the Competence Committee (CC) training all launching CBD programs are provided by the PGME. The target audience is intended to be those that were unable to attend their program's CC training or are new to a program's CC and did not have the opportunity to attend. By the end of this session, participant will be able to:

  • Describe the purpose of the Competence Committee
  • Define best practices in creating and running a Competence Committee
  • Explain how Competence Committees make decisions
  • Recognize and address common shortcomings in Competence Committee Procedures
