Message from the Vice-Dean, Education
Education is a lifelong adventure for many of us. Our curiosity, our desire to develop our fullest potential and the motivation to improve our lives and the lives of those around us, lead us to go beyond the classroom years and become permanent learners. In health, the best-prepared professionals are those who constantly update their knowledge and look for opportunities to learn from others and share our best practices.
The Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry at the University of Alberta stands as one of the premier health education centres in Canada, attracting outstanding talents and forming the future leaders in a wide array of health science disciplines as part of our undergraduate programs (medicine, dentistry, dental hygiene, medical laboratory science and radiation therapy), as well as our numerous residency, graduate and postgraduate programs.
Outlined in our 2016-2021 Strategic Plan is our faculty's vision-to remain at the forefront of health science professions, provide flexible, innovative and socially accountable programs that are adaptive to our learners, our professional mandates and the needs of our society.
As Vice-Dean, Education, it is my role to ensure that our curricula, accreditation, learning outcomes and teaching activities are maintained to the highest standards in all programs and continue to make us a world-class institution for health education. Our goal is to be a hub for innovative, brilliant minds that share our faculty's values of integrity, inclusion, compassion, excellence and passion for knowledge in their practice and their teachings.
I look forward to working together with learners, academics, clinicians, researchers and partner faculties and institutions to continue on a path of enhancement of our education, developing unique skills, new approaches and forward-thinking ventures with an ultimate goal of better serving our communities.
