Overall Well-being
Partners for Life
A single blood donation can make a lifesaving difference to someone in need. The University of Alberta joined Canadian Blood Services in the Partners For Life program. Together we can help build a stronger and healthier community. If you would like to help the University achieve its donation goal, please sign up online using the University's partner ID# UNIV010313 on the Canadian Blood Services website. You do not need to be a faculty or staff member at the U of A to have your donation counted towards our goal. Friends and family are welcome. Together, we are Canada's Lifeline.
Flu Clinics
The flu (influenza) is a contagious virus that anyone can get. Protect yourself - and others - by learning to recognize symptoms and by getting your influenza vaccine. Flu shots are available on campus through the University Health Centre as well as at immunization clinics located throughout Edmonton. Anyone living, working, or going to school in Alberta can receive their flu shot free of charge at AHS Influenza Immunization Clinics.
Back Care
The back supports the upper body, protects the spinal cord and allows the body flexibility. The back has four natural curves at the neck, the middle back, the lower back and the tailbone. These curves support your weight and absorb stress. Too much of the wrong type of movement can cause abnormal wear and tear which can lead to back injuries. Back pain is not uncommon for many people, especially those in jobs that require long periods of sitting or have a heavy physical component.
