Electives at Other Canadian Sites
Procedure
Clinical Electives in Canada - All Canadian Universities are now on the AFMC Student Portal
- In order for electives that are requested through the AFMC Portal to be added to MedSIS, the student is required to forward the Official Confirmation from the AFMC Portal to electives@ualberta.ca It is the student's responsibility to ensure electives are posted in MedSIS under their Personal Timetable before the start of the elective. Failure to do so will result in a Professionalism Lapse.
- If the elective is cancelled for any reason, the student is required to cancel the elective through the AFMC Portal and notify the UME in writing of the cancellation. Students are to ensure that they are aware of the specific medical school's policy so that the elective is cancelled according to the policy. If an elective is cancelled less that the time specified by the specific medical school's policy, a Professionalism Lapse will be assigned.
-
Student's must also ensure that the preceptor name and email address is submitted to electives@ualberta.ca by the last Monday of the elective in order that the preceptor is emailed an evaluation request from MedSIS. In order to receive credit for an elective, a "pass" evaluation must be received.
