We Care Program

Hands touching

Mental health affects all of us. By the same token, the responsibility for mental health falls to all of us. We must work in partnership to drive lasting change and enhance the well-being of our employees. We all have a critical role to play in removing the stigma of mental illness and prompt ongoing conversation in all of our professional relationships.

We Care Tipsheets

Our We Care Program launched health + well-being tipsheets in 2024. These tipsheets are available for download and can accompany our course: Starting the Conversation: Introduction to Mental Well-being available for teams and individuals.

A Culture of Care at the University of Alberta means that we are committed to lead with purpose. When it comes to mental illness, we are committed to doing our part in building a culture that replaces the misconceptions of past generations in favour of a culture rooted in understanding, value and respect.

We Care Toolkits are designed for managers, colleagues and individuals to realize the shared responsibility that we all hold for mental health. Their development centers on understanding the responsibilities we have to each other, subject knowledge, responsive empathic communication and the identification of next steps including resource referrals and follow up.
