What is Covered

As per the Museums and Collections Policy, UAlberta Museums is the office of responsibility for all museum objects and specimens, including works of art, which are owned by or entrusted to (i.e. on loan to, or loaned by) the University of Alberta while on its premises, in temporary storage, or in transit.

Only units that are registered as a museum collection under the policy are authorized to acquire, borrow, or lend museum objects or specimens in conjunction with UAlberta Museums.

Units that are not registered as a museum collection with UAlberta Museums that are interested in acquiring, borrowing, or lending museum objects or specimens must contact UAlberta Museums prior to any negotiations with donors, vendors, lenders, or borrowers. UAlberta Museums will assess and advise units on all potential acquisitions and loans, and will liaise with the Office of Insurance & Risk Assessment regarding insurance coverage under the Fine Arts Insurance Policy.
